Uluru, the name given to Ayer's Rock by the local Pitjantjatjara Aborigines, is close to the arid geographic centre of Australia. The 'other worldliness' of Ayer's Rock, whose sandstone has been weathered to rusty brown colour, is the inspiration for these earrings. The handmade long polymer clay bead at the base is coloured like the sandstone of Ayers Rock and the handmade round clay bead like the surrounding terrain. Australia is the world's 5th largest copper producer, hence the copper bead.
